TIMELINE

2 weeks

Munchies is an early-stage startup that aims to revolutionize the snack industry by providing customers with a delightful monthly subscription box filled with unique and exciting snacks and treats from around the world. This case study outlines the journey of Munchies from its initial idea to the wireframing stage using the design tool Figma.

The Idea

The idea for Munchies was conceived by a group of passionate snack enthusiasts who recognized the lack of variety and accessibility of snacks from different cultures in the market. They identified the potential for a subscription-based model that could offer customers a curated selection of snacks delivered to their doorstep each month. The team saw an opportunity to satisfy customers' cravings for new and exotic flavors while creating a delightful unboxing experience.

Market Research

Before diving into the design process, the team conducted thorough market research to understand the current landscape of snack subscription services, customer preferences, and potential competitors. They gathered data through surveys, focus groups, and competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities for differentiation.

Defining the Customers

To create a customer-centric product, I developed a user persona named "Adventurous Alice." Alice represents the target audience for Munchies, including individuals aged 25-40, who are open to trying new snacks and appreciate exploring different cultures through food.

Ideation and Conceptualization

Armed with valuable insights from market research and the user persona, the team brainstormed and ideated on the features and components that would make Munchies stand out. They outlined key functionalities such as personalization options, snack customization, and a rating system for better curation.

Wireframing on Figma

To visualize their ideas and create a concrete product design, I turned to Figma to create low-fidelity wireframes to map out the user journey and interactions within the platform. The wireframes focused on the following core aspects: - Main Page

- Product Page

- Cart

- Checkout

- Profile

These frames would easily be navigated via the bottom navbar.

Iterative Design Process

  • The team iterated on the wireframes by seeking feedback from potential users, stakeholders, and conducting usability testing. They incorporated suggestions and made improvements to enhance the overall user experience.

Finalizing the Wireframes

  1. After multiple iterations and refinements, the Munchies team finalized the wireframes, ensuring a user-friendly, visually appealing, and functional design. The wireframes were ready to be shared with the development team for implementation.

Conclusions

  1. The case study demonstrates the journey of Munchies from a mere idea to well-defined wireframes using Figma. By conducting thorough market research, defining a user persona, and embracing an iterative design process, I successfully created a compelling product design that resonates with their target audience. Munchies is now ready to move forward with the UI phase and bring the wireframes to life with brand identity.
